Marilyn Monroe life and death served as a symbolic anchor in my paper lithography experiments. Monroe’s iconic public image, intertwining glamour, vulnerability, and tragic silence, parallels the central themes of Feminine Fragility. Through reinterpretations of her image using kitchen lithography, I explore how women’s identities are shaped, consumed, and erased by cultural narratives.
Her legacy became a powerful metaphor for the intersection of visibility, exploitation, and loss.
This print is based on a painting I created in 2023, inspired by a 1957 photograph of Marilyn Monroe taken by Richard Avedon. The work seeks to engage with the emotional depth and public persona of Monroe, as captured in Avedon's iconic image.
While permission to use the image as artistic reference was requested, no response was received yet.
